I represent one of the two children of Mrs. Murray, enumerated with her in the Return of Women & Children, 31st Regiment of Foot, Capt. Varlo‘s Company, Sept 1768. The 31st was an infantry regiment that joined the garrison at Pensacola in 1765 and stayed – with a brief transfer to St. Augustine in 1769 – until 1772. My father’s name was not given in the Return, but according to the August 1768 muster roll for the 31st, it was Cpl. George Murray. That means my mother was Edie Murray and my sibling (also unnamed in the Return) was Elizabeth. As I do not appear to have been baptized in West Florida, my name
