Sgt. George Knox

I represent George Knox. I was a sergeant in His Majesty’s 31st Regiment of Foot. The 31st was an infantry regiment that joined the garrison at Pensacola in 1765 and stayed – with a brief transfer to St. Augustine in 1769 – until 1772. I was married to Rachael Knox, and we had two daughters: Elizabeth and Rachael. Elizabeth was the elder, baptized on July 24, 1768; Rachael was baptized on April 15, 1770. It is possible that my wife is the Mrs. Knox enumerated in the Return of Women & Children, 31st Regiment of Foot, Capt. Varlo’s Company, Sept 1768.
