Elizabeth Knox

I represent Elizabeth Knox, daughter of George and Rachael Knox. My father was a sergeant in the 31st Regiment. The 31st was an infantry regiment that joined the garrison at Pensacola in 1765 and stayed – with a brief transfer to St. Augustine in 1769 – until 1772. I was baptized 24 JUL 1768, probably as an infant. I had a younger sister, Rachael, baptized on April 15, 1770. It is possible that my mother is the Mrs. Knox enumerated in the Return of Women & Children, 31st Regiment of Foot, Capt. Varlo’s Company, Sept 1768. If that is the case, I am the child enumerated with her as my sister would not have been born yet.
