I represent one of two children of “Mrs. Humphries,” enumerated with her in the Return of Women & Children, 31st Regiment of Foot, Capt. Varlo’s Company, September 1768. My father is not named in the Return, but I know from other records, including the August 1768 muster roll for the 31st, that my mother is Margaret Humphries, and my father is Pvt. Adam Humphries of the 31st. There is another unnamed child enumerated with Mrs. Humprhies, who would be my brother, Richard.
