Samuel Carr

I represent Samuel Carr, a resident of Pensacola during the British colonial period. In 1764, I was appointed pilot of Pensacola. This meant that I was familiar with the trickier parts of the harbor and waterways near the town, so I guided larger vessels from other places into safety. I kept the position until 1776, when it was given to James Mant. My wife’s name was Mary, and we had two children: Samuel and Mary, who were both baptized March 20, 1770.
