Phyllis

Woman silhouetteRepresent this individual

I represent Phyllis. I was a woman of color, enslaved by Governor George Johnstone during his time in Pensacola. When he left the colony, he sold me for a token amount to his friend and secretary, John Primrose Thompson. Thompson ended up moving on as well, but before he left, he emancipated me on January 10, 1767. It is possible I am the Phyllis who was the mother of Ann.
