I represent John Haigh. I arrived in Pensacola as a settler from England in 1769 with my wife, Alice, our four children and two servants. I petitioned for a grant of 1,000 acres of land to raise livestock. In the meantime, we had another child: David was baptized May 1, 1770. It appears my aspirations were cut short; I died of consumption [tuberculosis] on January 16, 1771. I probably still lie in a now-unmarked grave in Pensacola.
