I represent Drummer. I was a man of color enslaved by Major Robert Farmar. I was convicted of burglary and felony on August 24, 1770. Under the slave laws then in place, the punishment for my crimes was death. I was in jail in Mobile awaiting my fate when Governor Peter Chester pardoned me, on the condition that I leave the colony within a month and never return.
