I represent Congo Pompy. I was a man of color enslaved by Adam Chrystie of the Manchac District of West Florida. We must have come to Pensacola with him when he fled his plantation during the raids of James Willing and his American rebels. On his later claim to the Crown for losses in West Florida, he said: “The following Negroes who died in Pensacola, occasioned by change of living from a vegetable to a salt meat diet.”
