Zama

I represent Zama, a man of color enslaved by Arthur and Elinor Neil. They lived on a plantation called Greenfield near what is now called Bayou Chico. On the inventory of the estate, my name is written “Zamar.” On an instrument dated April 25, 1769, they used me as security on a debt to Valens Stephen Comyn; however, Jacob Blackwell received use of the slaves. . By instrument dated January 1768, they used me as collateral for a loan from Elias Durnford.
