I represent Statira. I was a child of color enslaved by William Dutton. On November 6, 1773, he sold me to William Pountney, a Natchez district planter. (The term that was used to describe me in this instrument was “girl.” It is possible that term was used to describe an adult woman in a pejorative manner, and that I am the same Statira that was sold to Dutton by David Ross in 1770.)
