I represent one of the three children of Mrs. Baker. She was among the women enumerated in the Return of Women & Children, 31st Regiment of Foot, Capt. Hamilton‘s Company, in Sept 1768. The 31st was an infantry regiment that joined the garrison at Pensacola in 1765 and stayed – with a brief transfer to St. Augustine in 1769 – until 1772. At this time, the full identity of my parents has not been discovered, though it may be that they are John and Rebecca Baker of the 31st Regiment, who appear in the records of Rev. Nathaniel Cotton because they lost their son, Silas, in September of 1768.
