I represent Rebecca Baker. My husband, John, was garrisoned in Pensacola with the 31st Regiment of foot. Our son, Silas, died on September 11, 1768 in Pensacola; his burial was included in the records of Rev. Nathaniel Cotton. It is possible that John is the Sgt. John Baker listed in the Carpenter brothers’ 1767-1768 ledger books as having purchased rum and soap; and I may be the Mrs. Baker enumerated in the Return of Women & Children of the 31st Regiment in September 1768.
