I represent Judith Henrietta Pilott, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Digby Pilott. My father was a lieutenant of His Majesty’s 31st Regiment and Fort Major of the garrison at Pensacola. I was a child when our family arrived in Pensacola in 1765. I had three older sisters: Elizabeth, Catherine Mary, and Jane. Catherine Mary died during the yellow fever epidemic in 1765 soon after the family arrived; she was only a year old. Jane was born in March or April 1766. Elizabeth was born in Pensacola and baptized on January 13, 1769. I was baptized October 8, 1770. My mother wrote a memoir that is a treasure of information about the lives of women in the colony. She wrote it for me, because I wanted to know my parents’ stories.
