I represent the child of Mrs. Priest, enumerated with her in the Return of Women & Children of the 31st Regiment, Capt. Varlo‘s Company, in Sept 1768. The 31st was an infantry regiment that joined the garrison at Pensacola in 1765 and stayed – with a brief transfer to St. Augustine in 1769 – until 1772. he name of our father was not given in the Return, but according to the August 1768 muster roll for the 31st, it was Pvt. Joseph Priest.
