I represent Susanna Ross. My husband, who was not named in the record, was attached to His Majesty’s 31st Regiment of Foot, an infantry regiment that joined the garrison at Pensacola in 1765. I contracted yellow fever during the epidemic of 1765-66 and recovered but died later, on September 12, 1769. I may still lie in an unmarked grave in Pensacola. It is entirely possible I am one of the women enumerated as “Mrs. Ross” in the Return of Women & Children, 31st Regiment of Foot, but that has not yet been definitively established.
