I represent Felipe O’Reilly. I was a Sub-lieutenant in the Hibernian Regiment, one of three Irish regiments that formed the Irish Brigade of the Spanish Army. Irish soldiers had been serving in Spain for two hundred years by the time of the Revolutionary War, and it was a profitable arrangement for both the Irish-Catholic immigrants and the Spanish Crown. I was born about 754 and entered the regiment as a cadet in 1774. I was wounded during the campaign against Pensacola, on April 24, 1781. Gen. Gálvez recommended me for a promotion after the siege.
