I represent John Cummins. I was a private in what was for a time called the United Pennsylvania and Maryland Loyalists. The Maryland Loyalists Regiment and the Provincial Corps of Pennsylvania Loyalists were each raised in 1777 and arrived in Pensacola at the very end of 1778. In late 1779, with both our corps depleted by disease and desertion, the two were merged. The regiments separated again in December 1780. I was serving in Captain Kearney‘s Invalid company, which means that because of age, injury, or illness, the men in this company were unfit for field duty. Whether I was fit for garrison duty is not in the record. Neither is my cause of death, January 17, 1780 at Pensacola. I probably still lie in an unmarked grave there.
