I represent James Scott. I was a private in His Majesty’s 31st Regiment of Foot, Capt. George Maxwell‘s company. The 31st was an infantry regiment that joined the garrison of Pensacola in 1765 and stayed (with a brief transfer to St. Augustine in 1769) until 1772. I died on January 4, 1767. The cause of death was dropsy, which is an old term that describes any condition that causes edema or swelling. I likely still lie in an unmarked grave in Pensacola.
