I represent Jane McCumming, one of the unnamed children enumerated with Mrs. McCumming in the Return of Woman & Children, 31st Regiment of Foot, Maj. Bromley‘s Company, Sept 1768. Though her name was not given in the Return, my mother was Mary Linsday McCumming, and my father was Bryce McCumming, who served in the 31st Regiment and was commissioned Quartermaster in 1772. Little is known about me, except that I died unmarried in 1841 – probably at a ripe old age.
