James Ross

I represent James Ross. I was a resident of Pensacola during the British period. In October 1765, I was granted town lot 169, on the north side of the fort. The small cross street it was on back then does not seem to exist today, so it would be on Intendencia Street, probably between Jefferson and Tarragona. I was an attorney, and I was elected to represent Pensacola in the House of Commons for the first provincial General Assembly. In 1767, I purchased spermaceti candles, soap, sugar, corn, and an iron teakettle from Pensacola merchants Richard and Caleb Carpenter. I was elected to represent Mobile in 1767, then to represent Pensacola again in the 3rd and 4th Assemblies in 1769. I died on December 4, 1769.
