I represent James McCumming, one of the unnamed children enumerated with Mrs. McCumming in the Return of Woman & Children, 31st Regiment of Foot, Maj. Bromley‘s Company, Sept 1768. Though her name was not given in the Return, my mother was Mary Lindsay McCumming, and my father was Bryce McCumming, who served in the 31st Regiment and was commissioned Quartermaster in 1772. I was born in 1763. I would later marry a Canadian woman, Mary Ann Desonier and become a lieutenant in the 29th Regiment.
