I represent Jacob Lanter. I was a resident of Pensacola during the British colonial period. I was married to Anne Lanter, and we had a daughter named Mary. Mary was baptized – probably as an infant – on May 27, 1770. She died was buried the next day. She likely still lies in that unmarked grave in Pensacola. In September 1774, I petitioned for a grant of 300 acres on the Mississippi River. At that time, my household included my wife, two children, and one enslaved person.
