I represent Anne Lanter. I was a resident of Pensacola during the British colonial period. I was married to Jacob Lanter, and we had a daughter named Mary. Mary was baptized – probably as an infant – on May 27, 1770. She died and was buried the next day. She likely still lies in that unmarked grave in Pensacola. My husband’s 1774 petition for a grant of land on the Mississippi indicated we had two children then, as well as one enslaved person in the household.
