I represent Isabella Miller. My husband, James, served in His Majesty’s 31st Regiment of Foot. The 31st was an infantry regiment that arrived in 1765 and – with a brief transfer to St. Augustine in 1769 – remained until 1772. James and I had a daughter named Jane who was baptized – probably as an infant – on February 16, 1769. I am the “Mrs. Miller” enumerated in the Return of Women & Children of the 31st Regiment, Capt. Vignoles‘ company, in September 1768. An unnamed child was enumerated with me, which might be Jane or might be an older sibling.
