Capt. Charles Walker

I represent Charles Walker. I came to West Florida from Georgia about 1776, seeking asylum as a Loyalist because of the growing American rebellion. That year I petitioned for 500 acres on the Tombigbee River, about 112 miles above Mobile. I later became a captain in the West Florida Royal Foresters, a company of light cavalry raised by Maj. Gen. John Campbell in March 1780 and commanded by Adam Chrystie. We fought against the Spanish at such notable battles as Baton Rouge, Mobile, and the Siege of Pensacola. I was killed at the siege of Mobile in March 1780.
