I represent Hugh McCormick. I was a soldier in His Majesty’s 31st Regiment of Foot. The 31st was an infantry company; we joined the garrison in Pensacola in 1765 and we stayed – with a brief transfer to St. Augustine in 1769 – until 1772. There is a Mrs. McCormak enumerated in the Return of Women & Children of the 31st Regiment, Capt. Hamilton’s company, in Sept 1768, but at the moment there are no available records that confirm any relationship. I died on May 8, 1770; no cause of death was in the record. It is likely I still lie in an unmarked grave in Pensacola.
