I represent Juan Bautista Hugon. I was a lieutenant serving in the Louisiana black militias under Gen. Bernardo de Gálvez in his Gulf Coast operations – the Mississippi, Mobile, and Pensacola. I received a medal of honor and a 300-peso bonus for “valiant conduct” at Mobile and Pensacola. I served for 23 years in the Spanish militia and my son, Enrique, followed in my footsteps.
