Pvt. Michael Lillentine

I represent Michael Lillentine. I was a private in the Provincial Corps of Pennsylvania Loyalists. Raised in Philadelphia in 1777, the corps arrived in Pensacola at the very end of 1778 and remained until the surrender of Pensacola to the Spanish on May 10, 1781. I came on board in Captain Francis Kearney‘s company. In 1779, the Maryland and Pennsylvania Loyalists regiments were so depleted by disease and desertion that we were merged. During that time, I served in Captain Thomas Stephens’ company, but I went back to Captain Kearney’s company when the regiments separated again in 1780. After the surrender of Pensacola to the Spanish in May 1781, the survivors of the regiment were sent to New Town, Long Island as prisoners of war. I continued serving in the regiment until the end of the Revolutionary War, when I and many of my Loyalist comrades sought refuge and a fresh start in Canada. I received a grant of land in York County, New Brunswick, though I later settled in Carleton County. My family eventually settled in Ontario.
