I represent Nicolas Bacus Boisclair. I served as a lieutenant in the Louisiana black militias under Gen. Bernardo de Gálvez in his Gulf Coast operations: the Mississippi, Mobile, and Pensacola. I was identified as mulatto. I was awarded a medal of honor and a 250-peso bonus for “valiant conduct” at Mobile and Pensacola. My son and I became rice and sugar farmers in Tchoupitoulas, upriver from New Orleans.
