I represent Susanna. I was a child of color in British Pensacola. My baptism is in the records of Rev. Nathaniel Cotton, where I was identified as Susanna, “Daughter of a Negroe woman named Sukey” I was baptized May 15, 1769. Though the record was silent on my status, I was probably enslaved. There were on a few free people of color in the colony.
