I represent Timothy Wallington. I was a resident of Pensacola during the British colonial period. My name appears on a listing of inhabitants of the town for February 1780, which identified me as a merchant. In April 1776, I petitioned for a grant of land on Bayou Pierre. I stated I had resided in the province of West Florida for nine years; my household consisted of my wife, two children and two servants. (As the British did not shy away from using the word “slave,” this probably referred to white servants, either indentured or hired.)
