Merchant

The merchant class kept the colonial wheels turning. They supplied the military with food, lumber, bricks, and horses; they provided townsfolk with everyday needs; they traded with indigenous nations and other colonies – and occasionally smuggled goods in and out of Spanish New Orleans.
