I represent John Scott. I was a private in His Majesty’s 31st Regiment of Foot, Capt. George Maxwell‘s company. The 31st was an infantry regiment that joined the garrison of Pensacola in 1765 and stayed (with a brief transfer to St. Augustine in 1769) until 1772. I died on September 30, 1765, of dysentery, one of the many diseases that swept through the garrison in those early days of the colony. I likely still lie in an unmarked grave in Pensacola.
