I represent John Rennison. I was a sergeant in His Majesty’s 31st Regiment of Foot. The 31st was an infantry regiment that joined the garrison at Pensacola in 1765 and stayed – with a brief transfer to St. Augustine in 1769 – until 1772. In September 1768, a Return of Women & Children for the regiment listed a Mrs. Rennison, which is presumed to be my wife, Elizabeth. Because she was enumerated in Capt. Varlo’s company, that must ahve been the company in which I served. There were no children enumerated with Elizabeth on that Return, but she and I did not have our daughter Mary until later that year. She was baptized – probably as an infant – on November 2, 1768.
