William Stuttle

I represent William Stuttle. I was a sailor on HMS Atalanta. I was born in Liverpool and entered the service at the age of 42. The Atalanta was a 14-gun sloop in the Royal Navy. We were attached to the Jamaica squadron, but we found ourselves in Pensacola at various times between 1776 and 1778. One of our jobs was to protect shipping and transport vessels in and out of the Gulf Coast and to watch for smugglers violating trade laws regarding Spanish New Orleans. I died April 9, 1776 in Pensacola.
