I represent William Marshall Jr., the son of William and Helen Marshall. I was baptized in Pensacola – probably as an infant – on October 14, 1770. I had an older sister, Cornelia. My father was a magistrate and member of Assembly in Pensacola. His name appears on the Spanish list of inhabitants remaining in Pensacola at the time of the capitulation in May 1781. Unless he had managed to get his family to safety, we would have become prisoners of war at that time and probably gone to New York on parole with the rest of the survivors of the siege of Pensacola.
