I represent one of the three children of Mrs. Rigby enumerated with her on the Return of Women & Children of the 31st Regiment, Sept 1768, Capt. Maturin’s Company. The 31st was an infantry regiment that joined the garrison at Pensacola in 1765 and stayed – with a brief transfer to St. Augustine in 1769 – until 1772. The name of our father was not given in the Return, but according to the August 1768 muster roll for the 31st, it was Pvt. John Rigby.
