I represent Thomas Bentley. I was a native of London who came to West Florida, probably soon after the end of the French and Indian War. I was a merchant and I established a store in the Manchac region of Louisiana. By 1777, I had moved up the Mississippi to Kaskaskia as a fur trader, where I played a vital role in assisting the Virginia Line in capturing that part of Illinois.
