Sgt. James Wilkinson

I represent James Wilkinson. I was a sergeant in His Majesty’s 16th Regiment of Foot. We left Ireland in 1767 to join the garrison at Pensacola. My wife was Elizabeth Wilkinson, and we had a daughter named Susanna. Susanna was baptized – probably as an infant – on December 29, 1770. In a muster roll from September 1782, Leeds, England, I was still listed as a prisoner of war with the Spaniards, which may mean I was being held at Havana.
