Sehoy McPherson Weatherford

I represent Sehoy McPherson Weatherford, also known as Sehoy III. I was a daughter of Sehoy II of the Wind Clan with her second husband, Malcolm McPherson. (With her first husband, Lachlan McGillivray, Sehoy II was the mother of Alexander McGillivray.) Creek culture is matrilineal, so I and Alexander both trace our ancestry through our mother and the line begun by Sehoy I. I was born in the middle of the 18th century and experienced the British colonial period in West Florida first-hand. At about 18 years old, I married David Taitt, and had two children (David and Eloise) with him. My second marriage was to Charles Weatherford, a trader of Creek and European blood. My children with him included John, Rosannah, Elizabeth and William Weatherford, who later became the leader of the Red Sticks during the Creek war. I was a trader myself, even after my marriage to Charles ended, because I had always had my own property and business. I traveled all around Creek lands, including Little Tallassee, Hickory Ground, and the Tensaw area near Mobile.
