I represent Wilhelm Range. I was a private in the 5th Company of the 3rd Waldeck Regiment. I was born about 1740 in Korbach, Waldeck Province. My religion was Evangelical (which, in this context, means “Protestant”), and I stook 5′ 2″ tall – which is slightly below average for the men in my regiment. The 3rd Waldeck Regiment was hired by the British from Waldeck Prince Frederick Karl Augustus to assist them in fighting the American rebels in the Revolutionary War. The regiment reached North America in 1776. After two years of heavy action we were sent to Pensacola, along with the provincial loyalist forces of Maryland and Pennsylvania. I died of illness on August 17, 1779. I probably still lie in an unmarked grave in Pensacola.
