I represent Christoph Meyer. I was a private in the 4th company of the 3rd Waldeck Regiment. I was born on 1725 in Bruhne, Hesse. My religion was Reformed (Calvinist Protestant) and stood 5′ 2″ tall – just below average for the men in my regiment. The 3rd Waldeck Regiment was hired by the British from Waldeck Prince Frederick Karl Augustus to assist them in fighting the American rebels in the Revolutionary War. I had 18 years’ previous service in the Prussian army when the 3rd Regiment sailed for North America in 1776. I was a private in the 1st company at the time. After two years of heavy action the regiment was sent to Pensacola, along with the provincial loyalist forces of Maryland and Pennsylvania. I was transferred to 4th Company in April 1779. I died of illness on December 4, 1779 and it is likely I still like in an unmarked grave in Pensacola.
