Mary Myddelton Tayler

Represented by Margo Stringfield

I represent Mary Myddelton Tayler. I was the daughter of John Myddelton of Chirk Castle, Denbighshire, Wales. I married Colonel William Tayler (then a Major in Colonel Leighton’s Regiment) in 1754 at St. Martin in the Fields, Westminster, London. While my husband was stationed in Pensacola as Acting Brigadier General and commander of British troops in the Southern District of Amrica, I was a friend of Elizabeth Digby Pilott, acting in a mother-like role to her while she was in Pensacola. I was also noted for my efforts to provide “polite entertainment” to my husband’s officers.
