I represent John Blankett. During the British period in West Florida, I was a lieutenant in the Royal Navy. I was attached to HMS Alarm in September 1764 when I arrived on the Gulf Coast with Sir John Lindsay, the commanding naval officer in Pensacola. I was granted Lot 88 in Pensacola in February 1765, but it was transferred by the end of the year to James Robinson as I had not fulfilled the requirements of property ownership in the colony. I ended up sailing with the frigate Nautilus, chosen for its small size for duty on the Mississippi River, and I wrote an eloquent account of my travels up the River.
