I represent James Boucher. I was an Officer of the Guard in His Majesty’s 31st Regiment of Foot. I was commissioned ensign on March 22, 1762 and because a lieutenant on July 29, 1765. The 31st was an infantry regiment stationed at the garrison of Pensacola. We arrived in 1765 and immediately suffered immense losses due to diseases like yellow fever and dysentery. We were in Pensacola – with a brief transfer to St. Augustine in 1769 – before leaving for the Caribbean in 1772.
