I represent Augustin Prévost. I was the commander of the 3rd Battalion of His Majesty’s 60th (Royal American) Regiment of Foot and the military governor of West Florida before the civilian leadership arrived. I was born in Geneva, Switzerland in 1723. I and two of my brothers joined the 60th Regiment at its establishment in 1756. I arrived in Pensacola on August 6, 1763 to accept Pensacola from the Spanish. We had come from Havana, exhausted from the Caribbean campaign of the Seven Years’ War, the first British forces to land on Santa Rosa Island. The 60th was soon relieved by the arrival of other regiments and a civilian governor. We were in St. Augustine by 1776.
