Lt. Charles Warbuton

I represent Charles Warbuton. I was a lieutenant in the Royal Navy and commander of HMS Sir Edward Hawke. We arrive in Pensacola on November 7, 1767. The Sir Edward was an armed schooner sent by Admiral Parry at Jamaica to George Gauld (the noted survyeor and cartographer of West Florida) as a vessel better suited to the close coastal surveying he was doing than the larger Levant. Capt. Keith of the Levant sent carpenters and other artisans over to make refinements and repairs to the Sir Edward to make her fit for purpose. The Sir Edward was at anchor in Pensacola Bay when a particularly violent squall hit on January 9, 1768, but it came out undamaged. I sent my boats and crew to assist other distressed vesels and their crews.
