I represent Josef Fernández. I was an artillery man in the 1st Company, New Orleans Regiment. I was born about 1750 in Andalucia, Spain. I served at Baton Rouge, Mobile, and Pensacola. Considering that the surrender of Pensacola was precipitated by well-aimed artillery fire, my comrades and I don’t get enough credit. I was promoted to Sgt. 1st Class by 1792.
