I represent John Stokes. I was a resident of Pensacola during the British colonial period. I had a son with Diana Edwards named John. John was baptized – likely as an infant – on August 16 1768. My name appears on a listing of inhabitants of the town for February 1780 where I was identifed as a merchant. On the list made by the Spanish of householders remaining in Pensacola after the capitulation in May 1781, I was identified as a baker.
